Get Out!

Parents yelling at their lazy son

Stop being lazy and inconsiderate to you=our parents.

Hello everyone! Glad to see everyone at the table again (virtually). Man, if you thought my last blog was enough to stir up some talk, wait until you read this one. I know you see the title and I mean just that, but who am I talking to you ask? I’m talking to grown ass kids who are leeching off their parents.

Ok, where is this coming from? Well as we all know I now have a writing company that are offers several different writing services. If you didn’t know don’t worry the blog about that is coming out soon. Anyway, one of my clients had me research this case about a 30 year old man who was ordered to vacate his parent’s home after they filed eviction papers on him. Now I hope everyone is asking the question that I asked. Why the heck does a parent have to file eviction on their own kid to get them out of their home. I am inserting virtually the thinking emoji, nah here it is 🤔. That’s right I had to put something in here to show my thoughts.

I mean these parents went through the entire eviction process. They even used the letters they wrote him previously as evidence. What makes matters worse is the parents offered him money to help with moving expenses and was going to fix his car, smh. These are some great parents! Now I’m not saying parents should not help their kids out Lord knows my parents have helped me, prior to me getting married, but when do they stop taking care of the kid and they actually become adults? I mean the man had left his parents and was living on his own, he lost his job and then apartment and had to move back in with them to get on his feet. That was eight years ago, dang how much time do you need to get back on your feet. He wasn’t even trying to find a job. He got comfortable and lazy and expected his parents to pick up the tab.

Now just so we’re all clear my parents did help me out, but they were not allowing you stay in their house for eight years for free and you not do nothing. I mean I don’t know if it’s because there’s a culture difference or because they were older parents. No, really I had this conversation with some friends of mine. Would this scenario have played out different if the family was African-American , Arabic, Latino or Asian? I truly believe it would have. What about your own parents or if you’re a parent, how would this have played out in the home? I want to hear your thoughts fellow discussers, but remember to keep it respectful. See you at the next discussion!
