Hello my fellow discussers. How is everyone? It’s so great to see everyone again (virtually). I know, I know you’re saying two posts in a row. Yes! I’m trying to do better with my life. You know when you are taken out of your routine it’s so hard to get back into the swing of things. You understand? Well, some of you will and some of you won’t. I will save that for another post, as a matter of fact I will update my procrastination post, which was oh so long ago. Anyway, let’s move on to what I really want to talk about CO-WORKERS.
Now don’t get me wrong I don’t have a problem with my co-workers, but there is always that one you want to choke out. Is that too harsh? Well oh well, so I have this co-worker and he thinks he knowseverything. Truth be told he wants to be a lead/supervisor, but couldn’t lead himself out of a wet paper bag with an opening on the side. It’s true I promise. You know my issue is I can’t follow stupid. I have a problem with people trying to tell me what to do and I know more than they do. The better response from someone like that is to tell me what you need done and ask for help. I really feel like some people let status go to their head. They believe they’re somebody because they have a new title. Newsflash: Let’s never forget that you make the position, the position doesn’t make you.
You know I saw this quote at the end of someone’s email that stated: “Remember the difference between a boss and a leader, a boss says”Go” a leader says “LET’S GO.” Now I thought this was great quote, I hope you can see why it is too. Now here’s some more info: my co-worker is only like a team lead not a supervisor, but for some reason they (the company) forgot to tell him what that really means. So the team (myself and another co-worker) had to tell him and then go to the supervisor (the real one) and have him explain it again. Has this individual calmed down? A little, but he still doesn’t know how to talk to some people. A work in progress.
It really burns my skin when people that are supposed to be the leader throws their people under the bus. Really! What do you think that says about you and your ability to lead when you do that? I know I have been venting for a moment, but what do you do about people like this? Do you just play nice and drive on or do you take them to the side and have an adult conversation with them? You know some people do not like to be talked to and get defensive.
Let me know table! Have you ever experienced anyone like this before? Worse? Let me hear from you and tell me how I should have dealt with my team lead. Tell me how you would have dealt with someone like this or if you’ve dealt with a co-worker of your own. Remember to keep it respectful. See you at the next discussion.
