Weight Training Maybe?

Hello roundtable, Oh wow it’s been awhile. I took a little vacation, I had to get away and give my creative juices a rest. It was awesome, I relaxed I had fun and now its time to get back on the grind. You know February is almost over but 2018 is just really beginning. Let me start off by saying it’s so good to have everyone back at the table for another round of “What’s on Your Mind.” No seriously it’s good to see everyone back again (virtually). So if you have been keeping up with our past few discussions I have gone on about how we should pay attention to our kids and let’s celebrate black history month and even taking time for ourselves, which I did. This time I want to talk about a topic that is personal: weight training. Now I’m not saying personal like I had some bad experiences I mean personal like I want to get more into it.

I have started trying to get more lifting in my workouts, let’s be honest I’m trying to get more workouts in, but I do workout as much as I can. So I wouldn’t say I’m an intermediate but I’m novice either, hmm I guess I’m like a second year novice. I know a little something, but not enough to do a full workout on my own. Where would I start arms, legs or full body? I have read that adding weightlifting to my workouts can help me lose weight. Well I’m down for that! I remember I made the mistake of saying to a female lifter that I didn’t want to bulk up and look masculine. She was a little offended and her words were something along the lines of I hate when females say they don’t want to bulk and look like a man. She then asked me if she looked like man? Of course not and she was muscular, but in a good way. I told her that was how I use to think, but I did see more and more women lifting. You know the old saying if you knew better than you’d do better, so now I know better. So give me some advice table, what’s the best way to go about establishing a workout routine that includes weightlifting?

Listen, I really don’t have a lot of time in my day, but I will do all I can to make some time. I usually have to work out in the evening and I will not be able to do squats (with weights) at home. I do have some weights just not some place to squat. Do I need to drink protein shakes too? I said in an earlier post to make 2018 your year. That means to conquer whatever it is you have set out to do. It also means to start a new task that you’ve never started before and it means to finally do something that you have been putting off forever. So help me out table and give me some suggestions. Keep it respectful! See you at the next discussion.
