Saving Money

Hi Table, glad to see everyone back again and ready to discuss. Now please don’t read the topic and think I’m going to tell you how to save money, nope can’t do it, I can however have a discussion so that we can all discuss ideas that help us save money and then maybe adopt some ways from each other. The truth is I don’t know your coins and you don’t know mine. I don’t know how you spend and you don’t know how I spend and we don’t know each other’s expenses, so teaching you how to save money is almost impossible.

However, I would love to hear what works for everyone. I have a big family, we’re blended, but big nonetheless. We have to always consider our kids when it comes to buying food, going out to eat, going on vacation or something simple as family fun. We also have to consider money when we just want it to be the two of us. We always look for deals, so lately Groupon has become my friend. Now don’t sleep on Groupon, I was able to plan a whole getaway weekend with my husband to Charleston on Groupon. Anyway, outside of just covering some spending habits you should get into the habit of actually putting a little bit of money away. So what works for me is putting at least 10 dollars in an account I can’t withdraw from easily. I also love doing the 52 week money challenge. If you want to know what that is please refer to the attachment below.

The most important thing to take away from this post is you need to save. Really, why can’t we save more money? I believe we put our wants well above our needs. I believe that in some ways we have become a microwave society for money too. We want things now and if we don’t see a result quickly we give up on it or fall back into our old habits of spending. I know people say budget but does anyone actually write down a budget on paper or do you use your brain to create it? I have done the brain method and as you already know sometimes you forget some things and they come to bite you later. It worked better when I was single but once I got married it was very hard to control, I wonder why! Anyway enough about me please let me know of some awesome budget apps, if any, that are out there and I could possibly use.

Another good thing is please stop trying to live like the Joneses. You know who the Joneses are. They’re the imaginary people that you compare your life to and you always have to have what they have. You’ll go broke trying to live someone else’s life in your own skin. You never know what people have to do to get to where they are. Some of its good, some of its bad and some of it is done because there are no other alternatives.

A good bible verse, I know but yes another one, is you must be faithful over little to be ruler over much. Now it may word just a little different in the King James version but the same principle applies. Be happy with what you have and you will enjoy what you want later. This doesn’t mean settle for whatever, but it does mean that if you have a little put-put car but it gets you from point A to point B than be faithful over it because one day you will be able to afford that nice car without any issues and you’ll appreciate it more. Let me here some of your thoughts on money and as usual keep it respectful. See you at the next discussion.
