Procrastination or Too Many Tasks

Hello Roundtable, I know it’s been a very long time, but I am so happy to see everyone at the table again (virtually). This has been the busiest time in my life. When I finish one thing I immediately have something else to do not to mention significant moments in my life that made me pause for the cause. We everything going on I have really taking a break with writing not just on the blog but also with my novel. Oh I didn’t mention that before? Well I hinted around it before, if you don’t remember go back and check out my previous blogs.

Anyway so as I was having a long bath I had an epiphany. Have you ever done that before, you’re doing one thing and your eyes open to something else? Ok, maybe it’s just me however, I came to the realization that either I’m procrastinating or I’m taking on way too many projects before I’m actually done with one.

Now I know someone feels me on this? Think about it! I mean what does procrastinate really mean? It means to delay or postpone; put off doing something. I have to admit a long time ago I was a procrastinator, but over the years I learned how to get ahead and I would do it. However, now my problem is I tend to take on too many tasks. I will be at the end of a project and because I see the finish line I would take another project nothing big, but because the project was so small I felt I could take on another project and another. After a while those little projects piled up and then I had a lot of projects.

Now the first project may not be done because I took the extra time to start all the little projects. Here’s a little secret those little projects aren’t really little. They’re actually big projects that seem small to you because you’re probably use to doing them.

Now I know you’re reading this like you don’t finish anything, but it’s quite the opposite. I finish all my tasks and will take on some more not realizing that I’m not taking out time for myself. I want the project I’m working on to look so good that I neglect my personal projects for someone else’s. Wrong! You have to take time for yourself and what you have going on. I know I should know this by now, but sometimes we fall back into habits. I believe at some point we have all been procrastinators and some of us still are.

Then there’s that few who like me just take on too many tasks and delay doing it because you’re doing something else. So let’s make a commitment right now to stop procrastinating, if that’s what you do, or taking on too many projects before we finish one. Let me know what you’re thinking or if one of these people are you. Remember keep it respectful. See you at the next discussion.
