Hello roundtable! So glad to see you again (virtually). Well as you were reading the title I hope you were thinking about who help shape you into the person you are today. I mean I wrote in a blog recently that my experiences helped shape me, but in those experiences there were several people who attributed to that some more than others. Of course the number one person/entity that has contributed to me is God. Now some people may say I thought you only meant human, but that’s not what I said. Anyone! If it wasn’t for God I wouldn’t be where I am today physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. I don’t want this to come off as some religious blog but seriously it’s because of him that I get up every day and tackle what this world has to offer. Now with that being said, let’s go down the red carpet.
My parents have definitely shaped me into the person I am today. From just experiencing their trials and tribulations to some of their proudest moments, well that seemed proud to me, I can say some of my decisions in life was because of them. Just seeing them do things made me either say I want to be just like them or say man they work hard I pray that I can do a little better than them. I love my parents and all that they did for my sisters and I. Even through their mistakes they taught me something and the proud, determined, go-getter, fabulous woman I am today reflects. My grandparents have also shaped me into who I am, especially my mother’s mom. Boy, she did not play and if you want to talk life lessons, she gave plenty of them and man we can only laugh about it now, but back then it hurt.
I would like to say my friends to include my sisters, my true friends, the ones who I can go without talking to for a while, but when we do talk we pick up right where we left off helped shape me into who I am today. My ride or die friends. We have been through marriages, break-ups, birth of children, relationship issues and so much more and they’re still here. It’s the time I spent with them and the experiences with them that help shape me. Of course any pastor that has spoken into my life, prayed for me or anything has contributed to the person I am today. This is my top 5! Now I know someone is saying what about your children. Well they inspire me to be better and they motivate me to be better. I was shaped into this person for them. It would be a blessing to actually make an impact in someone else’s life. I pray I shape my children’s lives as well as anyone who comes into contact with me. I pray that all of our encounters are pleasant, but in actuality they’re not. I honestly try! So who shaped you? It clearly can be several like me or one. You may not feel as if anyone shaped you, that’s fine tell me about it. Give me your thoughts and comments. Remember to keep it respectful. See you at the next discussion.
